With contextual analysis having been done, the students are equipped with knowledge of the given site. The design process of the project focuses on preparing students to increase awareness of users and spatial relationships emphasizing ideas of anthropometrics and ergonomics.

Students are further required to design a space understanding the specific needs of the type of user and lifestyle. The space should reflect the user’s personality, character, and occupation. Students are required to synchronize the exterior, interior space, and immediate landscape surrounding the building.

The Semester 9 is a precursor to the Semster 10 wh

The Semester 9 is a precursor to the Semster 10 which culminates with Design Dissertation. In the semester 9, the students are required to conduct a preliminary research for their final thesis which includes the intent of research, review of literature, methodology and basic analysis of study area. The students are asked to formulate their aims and objectives of research to dissect a spatial program. The spatial program is based on their preliminary research and conceptual and operative frameworks as established during their field study and background studies.

The intent of the Semester-9 AD studio is to introduce students to complex and multifunctional building typologies (including public architecture) and their relationship with existing urban ecology through the design process. This design studio intends to look at the architecture as a part of a larger urban context. The emphasis of the studio is to train students to analyze and understand architecture and its relationship with various urban layers.
This studio focuses on the dialectics between designed and lived space arguing that spontaneity is an overlooked yet fundamental human characteristic that is revealed in the formation of the physical environment. For this, the main research question is stated as “How can we analyze the dialectics between designed and lived spaces through situating spontaneity within urbanism?” This is believed to give urban studies a way to address the knowledge gap between everyday life and spatial design through the interpretation of spontaneity.
